Clayton McDermott’s passion for sailing began on the West coast during his time at Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara.  Trading photography for sailing lessons, he amassed cruising knowledge on a 42 foot Catalina sailing out to the Channel Islands and along the West coast.  His interest in sailing continued as he completed his photography degree and moved back to his native state of Texas where he participated in multiple regattas in the Gulf of Mexico and Galveston Bay.  Most recently, he obtained the first level Yacht Masters certification at the renowned Super Yacht Academy Club Sail in Pittwater, New South Wales, Australia.  Prior to the two month offshore sailing program in Australia, he spent a month in Thailand attaining his rescue divers certification on the island of Koh Tao.  He continues his landscape and architectural photography while maintaining a land-based job and chartering for The Texas Sailing Center.
